Bill and Jason first crossed paths at the University of Miami in the fall of 1991. Bill was gearing up to produce his first student film, The Dead View, and was on the hunt for actors to complete his cast. A mutual friend introduced him to Jason, who landed the role of the film’s villain. That first collaboration sparked a lasting friendship that was filled with late nights in the dorms, packed with friends, watching ’80s movies that would later inspire their creative paths.
After graduation, Jason moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, while Bill joined the Marketing and Special Events Department of the Miami Dolphins. The two reunited in the spring of 2002 at Star Wars Celebration II in Indianapolis, Indiana. Five years later, Bill also made the move to Los Angeles to chase his dream of filmmaking, though the writer’s strike at the time made that pursuit challenging.
Determined to keep creating, Bill, Jason, and their college friend Marwan founded Waterwell Pictures, producing their own films and scripts. Their collaboration led to several award-winning short films, including Over Cards, Desolate Road, Epic Home Break-Ins, and Lazer Town, along with a handful of music videos.
When the pandemic shut everything down in 2020, Bill and Jason sought a new creative outlet and decided to launch a podcast. Naturally, they chose to revisit the ’80s movies that first inspired them to become filmmakers, reliving the magic of those college nights when 15–20 friends would crowd into a dorm room to watch the classics together.
